Aperture: The aperture determines the amount of light is aloud to enter the lens. It is similar to the pupil in the human eye. The larger the aperture the more light is allowed in. Also the larger the aperture the more likely the picture is able to become blurry. The amount of light exposure in the camera will determine how light or dark the image is captured. The aperture is measured in different F-stops.

Shutter: Is the amount of time that the camera allows for light to enter through the lens. The shutter also has control over the action of the photograph. The more light, or longer the shutter is open, the less action you can capture. If you are trying to capture a photograph of a moving object or someone playing sports, then adjusting the shutter speed to a faster setting will help capture the photograph before resetting for the next picture. The shutter speed is measured in seconds and in fractions of seconds.
